Online Learning Experience
The Challenge
Current printed manuals and work procedures around Gas Operations served as the primary training resource and were not centralized online. Functional areas across divisions were obtaining information in an inconsistent way and the business needed a way to supplement the manuals and deliver instructional content about operational processes to all members of the organization. The main objective was to promote quality and visibility into the Gas Operations work that spanned across several work groups while increasing saftey, communication, efficiency and collaboration.
The Solution
Created an intranet portal to deliver instructional content about Gas Operations processes to all members of the organization while enabling the line of business to manage its own content on the portal. A visual process map was created to serve as a landing page to navigate to different pages that illustrate a specific process (role descriptions, tasks, etc.). Each role had a page with descriptions of the role and a link to relevant manuals and supplemental Online Learning Experiences (OLE) which was based on the most recent maual and tailored for the adult learner to be engaging, interactive and fun.
My role in this project was to design and create the OLEs. The OLEs were 10-15 minutes long allowing learners to complete several components in a quick amount of time. Each OLE included a quick knowledge assessment to track learner progress.
